From Classical Piano to Rock Guitar: The Evolution of a Musician

Randy Hulsey is a dynamic vocalist and multi-instrumentalist who performs roughly 130 shows each year alongside longtime friend and lead guitarist Chris Hughes. Known for his versatility across multiple genres, Randy delivers standout performances that span country, rock, Americana, and classic hits—bringing a fresh energy to every stage he steps on.

In addition to his busy performance schedule, Randy is the host of the internationally recognized Backstage Pass Radio podcast, now heard in over 130 countries. His conversations have featured some of rock and country’s most respected names, including Joel Hoekstra (Whitesnake), Michael Sweet (Stryper / Boston), Fee Waybill (The Tubes), Doug Johnson (Loverboy), Nibbs Carter (Saxon), Tony Carey (Rainbow), Graham Bonnet (Rainbow), Earl Slick (David Bowie / John Lennon), and Jimmy Fortune (Statler Brothers).

Randy’s musical journey began with classical piano at a young age, but his passion quickly shifted to guitar. Influenced by the likes of Randy Rhoads, Randy Jackson (Zebra, China Rain), and James Taylor, he played in several local bands before ultimately finding his true voice through the acoustic guitar.

Now based in Cypress, Texas, Randy performs at private events, restaurants, and microbreweries, where his diverse setlist includes artists such as Cross Canadian Ragweed, Jimmy Buffett, George Strait, Chris Stapleton, Elton John, Eagles, Rolling Stones, Whiskey Myers, Duran Duran, Aaron Lewis, Led Zeppelin, and many more.
